SJ4000 wifi vs. GoPro 3 Black Review
SJ4 goes for about $117 on Ebay and the GOPRO here is about $399. They both come in a waterproof case. The SJ4000 is 12 megpixels and so is the GOPRO Hero3. It’s 12 megapixels also. But for me, I just needed something to record video that has a decent quality. I’m not making movies with this thing. So as long as it’s decent quality I’m satisfied. The SJ is a little thicker on the side profile. I like the fact that it has an external screen. It comes in handy. On the other hand you can buy an external screen for the GOPRO Hero3 for an extra $100 added to the $399 price tag. It’s going to bring you to over $500 for the set up, which is a plus for the SJ. Side profile is just a bit little thicker. I like it. Looks nice. Let’s see how it compares. I got the GOPRO on top and the SJ on the bottom. A couple buddies of mine playing ping pong. To me, I gotta be honest, there is a slight advantage with the GOPRO. The image quality is maybe 20% sharper and clearer, but 20% is that really worth 300 extra dollars? I don’t think so. Not if you’re just using it as a second camera or getting underwater video, or mounting it to your car or what not. The image quality is comparable. With the naked eye you can barely see it. But if you look closely you can see that the GOPRO has a slight advantage. But I think for the price the SJCAM is definitely worth it. The SJCAM has wi-fi. Also there is an app for it. SJCAM app, HD app. You can change all the settings in the camera just like the GOPRO app. At the price point of $117 on Amazon, you can’t beat it. It’s defintely worth it. A quarter of the price and I’d say 90% of the quality of the GOPRO. You can’t beat that price at all. I’d go with the SJ. SJ all day. Here’s a video of a duck I shot outside my house with no color correction. I had the dynamic range on inside the camera internal. Wide dynamic range they call it. As you can see, shot in bright daylight. Quality’s really good. I’m really happy with this camera.

At the end of the day, this is the conclusion they come to, which will sound familiar if you checked out the video review:
If you tried to compare the SJCAM SJ4000 to other popular, cameras like the GoPro HERO Black, you would see that they are similar in looks and function. Sure, the GoPro may offer more features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or low light shooting, but if you are looking for a simple alternative to higher priced action cameras then the SJ4000 is the way to go. SJCAM has the camera listed on their website for around $119.00 however, I found them on Amazon for almost half the price and some bundled with more goodies for a few bucks more.
Reviewers seem to consistently come to this conclusion: for the price, SJCAM SJ4000 is where it’s at. On other sites, the SJ4000 consistently scores well in customer reviews. Bhphotovideo.com’s customers gave it about four and a half stars overall in 56 reviews.
